Principal’s Message

Welcome to Sydenham Primary School.

As the Principal of Sydenham Primary School, I am honoured to lead a dedicated team of educators who are passionate about supporting every student to reach their full potential. Through our strong Professional Learning Communities, we continually reflect on and improve our teaching practice, using data to plan targeted, high-impact learning experiences for each and every student.

As of 2026 our school is proud to operate as an independent school (following a demerger from Sydenham-Hillside PS) with a strong leadership team that guides teaching and learning.

At Sydenham, we are fortunate to have

• Sarah Johns, Assistant Principal (P-3), whose portfolio includes Literacy, Numeracy, and Disability Inclusion
• Sarah Zammit, Assistant Principal (4-6), who oversees Literacy, Numeracy, and School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)
• Clinton Stark, Leading Teacher - Disability Inclusion and Wellbeing P-6 and
• Amy Woolner, Leading Teacher in Maths, STEM and Reporting

We have a strong emphasis on academic achievement, and our close connections with local secondary schools ensure that all students are well prepared for the next stage in their educational journey.

Our positive and inclusive school culture is built on our core values of Learning, Responsibility, Respect, and Safety, and is further supported by the SWPBS framework for student wellbeing and behaviour. Our strong student leadership team, including our school captains, plays an important role in shaping and leading whole-school activities that foster community and pride.

Sydenham Primary School boasts excellent facilities, including newly developed STEM building and upgraded ovals, which have further enriched our curriculum and engagement opportunities.
